"I always left class feeling recharged."
Upon moving to São Miguel in my third trimester, I found the Centro Mãe e Mulher while searching for providers of prenatal exercise. I am very grateful that I did, as the staff is so wonderful! The f... Ver Maisounder, nurse Carmen, is very knowledgeable; conversations with her always put my mind at ease. Physical therapist, Carina, is also very passionate about what she does. I took prenatal Pilates with her as the instructor and I always left class feeling recharged, both physically and socially. The classes focus on fostering and maintaining good posture and pelvic floor strength and flexibility. The sessions gave me a chance to meet other mamas, and we often shared experiences while doing the light, yet impactful, exercises. Carina also shared evidence based information with us at each session related to what naturally came up in conversation. I also did a few bodywork sessions with Carina, towards the end of my pregnancy, when my body started to ache, which were very relaxing. My husband and I attended a baby wearing workshop with Carina, who is also a consultant. She taught us how our little one should be seated in the carrier in order to be safe and promote health hip development; and also let us try out various types of carriers and taught us how to put them on. We left the center with another practical tool in our parenting toolkit that has been very helpful as we start our journey as a family of three. Ver Menos
